Providing sixty years of services, Northumberland County Rescue Squad is a Volunteer Non-Profit Organization first established in Reedville, Virginia in 1964. Local Residents formed together with bake sales and other fund raisers to save up to purchase a station wagon. The wagon was stationed at "Zeke's Store," which is now known as Reedville Market. In 1993 a second Squad Station was established in Burgess, VA. In 2019 the Burgess Station went under renovation adding a meeting room, an additional bathroom, an additional bay area, offices, and a full kitchen. Soon after the Rescue Squad made the decision to make Burgess it's primary and sole location. The station has two ambulances, 77 & 78. NCRS Volunteer Members donate their time to help those in need here in our community. We are thankful for the dedication shown by all prior and current members!
We also want to thank the members of Fairfield's and Callao Volunteer Fire Departments, Northumberland County Sheriff's Office, and Northumberland Emergency Services.
Together we work as a team providing 'mutual aid' for one another when needed.
"Volunteers aren't paid because they are worthless, but because they are priceless!"
